An accountability court in Lahore extended the judicial remand of PML-N leaders Khwaja Saad Rafiq and Khawaja Salman Rafiq in the Paragon Housing Project case.
On Tuesday, the Khwaja brothers were produced in court where they were supposed to be accused. However, when they were presented, their representatives pleaded with the court to adjourn the complaint. They argued that a "clean copy" of reference was not provided against their brothers.
The court asked the prosecution team to provide a clear copy of the reference through a subsequent hearing and announced that he would indict the defendant on September 4.
Speaking to the media, Saad said the NAB's accountability process has been termed revenge. "Accountability has never been on the basis of merit in this country." He accused the Prime Minister of interfering in the matter.
Nab said Saad had joined his wife, brother, Kaiser Amin Butt and Nadim Zia to form the Paragon Housing Society. The Lahore Development Authority has said that the housing project has not been approved. These brothers have been accused of abusing their authority and causing billions of damage to the National Treasure.
